AN BRADÁN FEASA
Our Crest
Legend has it that the wise man Finegas lived along the south bank of the Boyne around Staleen. As a young boy Fionn mac Cumhaill of the Fianna came to study with Finegas.
The wise old man was obsessed with catching the Bradán Feasa - The Salmon of Knowledge, because whoever ate the fish would attain all the knowledge his mind could hold. With Fionn’s help the great fish was caught and while grilling their catch over a fire Fionn touched the fish with his thumb to see if it was cooked.
He burnt his finger and immediately sucked it to ease the pain. Little did Fionn know that all of the salmon's wisdom had been transferred to him while attempting to suck away the pain. Hence our adoption of An Bradán Feasa as our Club crest.
